Times were troubled in the Languedoc area; the Roman Catholic Church founded the Inquisition in 1229 to find, question, and destroy those who did not hold orthodox religious views; the Cathars were a religious group of Christian Gnostics who lived in Southern France. On March 16, 1244, a large execution took place at the foot of the mountain in Montsegur, France. Cathar leaders and two–hundred-twenty of their heretical members, some Catholics and some DeMolay family members were thrown into an enormous fire--men, women, and children. Moreover, the Church decreed severe punishment and confiscation of land against all laymen suspected of sympathy with the Cathars. Mother Isobel knew the DeMolays were a target of the Pope and the French king because of the value of their land. She could fight the Inquisition, but less powerful witches and warlocks would not be able to and would take the Long Walk prematurely.
It was time to leave Languedoc, but to where? Monarchs with loyalties to the Church controlled all Christendom. The DeMolay family motto was Protect Yourself, Family, and Friends. Mother popped to London to get the advice of her nephew, Tomas DeMolay. When witches pop, they simply think of a place or person they want to see and they appear there. Tier-3 witches can pop a maximum of one hundred miles; Tier-2, one thousand miles; Tier-1 five thousand miles; and Tier-0, unknown. Tomas was a one-hundred-forty-year-old, well respected, Tier-2 warlock with black hair and green eyes.
Mother Isobel explained to Tomas the problems back in Languedoc and the need to leave. She and Tomas decided to move the family to the western side of the Atlantic Ocean. After one month of ideal winds and weather, the Knight Templar ships landed one hundred and fifty family members and friends on the shores of what would one day be the state of New Jersey. Upon setting foot in the new land, Mother Isobel had a potent premonition that the most powerful warlock of all time would be born seven hundred years from this date, July 25, 1249.
Jamie Tomas Williams was born to Lloyd Williams and Betty DeMolay Williams on July 25, 1949 in Languedoc, New Jersey, seven hundred years after the DeMolay family landed on the shores of the future state of New Jersey, on July 25, 1249.
